Last month, the Shah family (Snehal, Falguni, Ushma and Utkarsh) were awarded the Laurel Award by Newport Mansions (Preservation Society of Newport Country in RI) for the exceptional contribution they made towards its future.
Preservation Society's diverse audience relies on audio tour technology for information on various properties and collections. The design of the audio players used by the Preservation Society is nearly a decade old. And that's a lifetime in the fast changing world of technology. The Shah family collaborated with Preservation Society to develop a state of the art mobile tour application. The mobile application seamlessly incorporated 4 properties - The Breakers, The Elms, Marble House & Rosecliff. The complex work of architecture, history, landscapes, exhibits, and collection was encapsulated in a program intuitive enough for visitors of any age or background. It can be downloaded directly on to a smartphone making the information accessible at their property or at home.
"The Shahs have created a tour application that can handle the complexities of this organization. Their work has far reaching benefits within the entire museum industry. With this, we have leap frogged over an entire generation of technology." Said William Hatfield, a trustee at PSNC while presenting the award.
Shahs have taken the work done for Newport Mansions and offered it to all the museums and mansions as a technology platform. It is a template based app creation technology that requires no upfront fees. The technology allows museums, attractions and bus tour operators to put their own apps in the Apple & Android app-stores and avail higher grade of success with visitor engagement. While the primary objectives are to increase engagement and improve reviews/ratings, the apps can also be setup with built in mobile e-commerce to sell tickets, get donations, offer gift store items and attract sponsors by giving them virtual space in the app. Action data systems set up everything without large one-time costs - only a small monthly fee.
